I was asked to explain Bitcoin. I started a 10 minute rapid dump of info ranging from the spreadsheet analogy, what money and inflation are, to transaction propagation. It was a mess.
Next time, I'll just say this, to keep it easy to understand.
Bitcoin is a global, incorruptible monetary system. Anyone can use it with a simple wallet app, no accounts or ID required. No banks involved. It allows you to save and protect your money from inflation and confiscation, and send any amount to anyone, anywhere with no middlemen. Much like the internet, it's a neutral infrastructure powered by millions of computers in every corner of the world and in space.
If they think that's cool, I will add "Bitcoin is basically the first time in history we’ve had a form of money that no person, government, or bank can print more of, take it from you without your consent, or stop you from sending it."
