Kosmatos Nexus

Computers, capitalism, and the future.

Compulsion Sequence Hypothesis

Here is a psychophysics / cognitive neuroscience idea I've been thinking about since AI started to be able to generate images and sound.

Compulsion Sequence Hypothesis

There exist specific sequences of pixels and sound from a screen that can make a person react deeply enough to do essentially anything.

Corollary

AI may be able to discover and generate such sequences.

Example (not too dark)

Imagine a video appears on your screen showing you, two minutes ago, sitting in the exact chair you’re in right now, filmed from the outside through your window, as if from a drone’s camera. You would almost certainly get up and look out the window.
